Nah, we're the Manhattan High School Indians. But in 2003, a bird of a different feather made it's way into team history.
A flock of the flamingoes -- disguised cleverly as pink lawn ornaments -- mysteriously showed up at a practice just before the first road meet of the 2003 season.
Team members must have perceived the birds as good karma, because during the rest of the season, the flamingoes showed up at awards ceremonies, on the team bus, in team member's bags, along many race courses and just about everywhere the team happened to be.
Viva flamingo, baby!
It's not certain whether the flamingoes will make their annual trek to Manhattan for the 2004 season, but nobody's betting against it either.
